Nevada overtime rules (NRS §608.018)
- 1.5× for hours over 8 in a workday — but only if you earn less than 1.5× the Nevada minimum wage ($18.00/hr, since the minimum wage is $12.00/hr).
- 1.5× for hours over 40 in a workweek (applies to everyone non-exempt).
- No double time. Nevada does not require 2× pay.
- Daily and weekly overtime are not stacked on the same hours.
Worked example
You earn $15/hr (below the $18 cutoff, so daily overtime applies) and work five 10-hour days. Each day is 8 regular + 2 overtime = 40 regular + 10 overtime hours (straight time is exactly 40, so there is no extra weekly overtime). Pay = $600 + (10 × $15 × 1.5 = $225) = $825 gross.
If you earned $20/hr instead (above the $18 cutoff), the same schedule has no daily overtime — only the weekly 40-hour rule — so all 50 hours are 40 regular + 10 weekly overtime. Switch the tool to Federal to model that case.

Who qualifies for daily overtime in Nevada?
Nevada daily overtime (1.5× after 8 hours in a workday) applies only to employees who earn less than 1.5× the Nevada minimum wage. The Nevada minimum wage is $12.00/hour (since July 2024), so the daily-overtime cutoff is $18.00/hour. If you earn $18.00/hour or more, daily overtime does not apply — only the 40-hour weekly rule does. Switch the calculator to "Federal" for that case.
